To send Bitcoin from your Coinbase account to an external wallet, follow these steps:
- Obtain the External Wallet Address: (We will give you a fesh new wallet address) Open your external wallet (e.g., a hardware wallet, a mobile app like BlueWallet, or a desktop wallet like Electrum) and navigate to the “Receive” or “Deposit” section for Bitcoin (BTC). Copy the Bitcoin receiving address displayed there. Ensure you are copying the correct address for the Bitcoin blockchain (e.g., Bitcoin Mainnet, not a testnet).
- Log In to Coinbase: Access your Coinbase account via the website or mobile app.
- Initiate the Send: Navigate to the “Send & Receive” section and select the “Send” tab. Choose Bitcoin (BTC) as the cryptocurrency you wish to send.
- Enter the Recipient Address: Paste the Bitcoin address you copied from your external wallet into the recipient field. Double-check the address meticulously to ensure it is correct, as sending Bitcoin to the wrong address results in permanent loss.
- Confirm the Transaction: Enter the amount of Bitcoin you want to send. Review all details, including the recipient address and the network fee (which is paid to the Bitcoin blockchain to process the transaction). If you have two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled, you will need to complete the 2FA step to confirm the transaction.
- Monitor the Transfer: After confirming, the transaction will be processed. You can monitor its status in the “History” section of your Coinbase account. You can also use a Bitcoin blockchain explorer (like Blockchair or Blockstream Explorer) to track the transaction using the transaction ID provided by Coinbase.
- Verify Receipt: Once the transaction is confirmed on the blockchain (typically after several minutes to an hour, depending on network congestion), the Bitcoin should appear in your external wallet.
Coinbase does not charge a fee for sending cryptocurrency to an external wallet; however, you are responsible for paying the applicable blockchain network fee, which varies based on network activity.
Sending Bitcoin to External Wallet using Crypto.com

- Open the Crypto.com App and navigate to the ‘Accounts’ section, then select ‘Crypto Wallet’.
- Tap on ‘Transfer’, then select ‘Withdraw’, and choose ‘External Wallet’.
- If sending to a new address for the first time, you must whitelist it for security. Tap ‘+ Add Wallet Address’ and select ‘Wallet Address’. Enter the recipient’s Bitcoin address, which typically starts with ‘1’, ‘3’, or ‘bc1p’. You can type, paste, or scan the address using the QR code icon.
- Select Bitcoin (BTC) as the cryptocurrency to send.

- After confirmation, your withdrawal request is submitted. There may be a 24-hour withdrawal lock on newly added addresses if the feature is enabled. Once processed, the transaction will be recorded on the Bitcoin blockchain.
For a non-custodial wallet like the Crypto.com DeFi Wallet, the process is similar: open the app, tap ‘Send Payment’, choose Bitcoin, enter the recipient’s address or scan their QR code, select a transaction speed, and confirm.
